Douglas Soesbe
Screenwriter and playwright Doug Soesbe reflects on a life shaped by creativity, secrecy, and the long journey toward accepting his sexuality. After growing up with bullying and religious guilt, he pursued careers in teaching and writing while spending much of his adult life compartmentalizing his identity. His own experience with love and living in the closet eventually inspired the screenplay for *Boulevard*, starring Robin Williams as an older married man confronting his hidden sexuality. Doug also shares his experience surviving advanced prostate cancer and, now living openly in Palm Springs, reflects on the freedom he found later in life and the importance of self-respect and embracing who you are.
