Terry Beebe
Retired educator and assistant principal Terry Beebe reflects on a life spent searching for the freedom to be himself. His desire for fatherhood led him into marriage and a traditional family life, while privately struggling with an identity he could no longer suppress. After his marriage ended, Terry found love with his first male partner, John, whose eventual death from cancer contributed to a painful period of alcoholism before Terry found lasting sobriety. He later moved from New Jersey to California, where he built a new life and ultimately found peace in independence. Today, surrounded by his children and grandchildren, Terry reflects on self-worth, family acceptance, and finally removing the “mask” he wore for much of his life.
