SJ Mendelson
Raised in Brooklyn, SJ Mendelson found an early sense of belonging among gay friends who embraced her expressive personality at a time when she often felt like an outsider. Her path took her through New York’s music and cabaret scene and later to California, while friendships within the gay community remained a constant throughout her life. Now known online as “TikTok Bubby,” SJ is a vocal LGBTQ+ ally, using humor, personal experience, and social media to support younger generations, including trans youth. She also speaks candidly about homophobia, acceptance, and the importance of standing with a community that she credits with giving her acceptance and confidence when she needed it most.
