Jim Colucci
Raised in a traditional Catholic family in New Jersey, Jim Colucci spent years believing he could choose not to be gay. As the responsible younger brother of a disabled sibling, he learned early to put his own needs aside. While studying at the University of Pennsylvania and later working at an advertising agency, he quietly searched for connection through queer memoirs and stories. In 1996, a newspaper article about fellow Italian-American Frank DeCaro led Colucci to a book signing—and eventually to a life-changing first date. DeCaro became a source of encouragement as Colucci came out, embraced his identity, and pursued a writing career. He went on to write for *TV Guide* and author a book about *Will & Grace*. Through personal struggles and major life changes, the couple built an enduring partnership rooted in humor, devotion, and mutual support. Today, they share a home in Los Angeles with their beloved dog and a life Colucci once could not have imagined for himself.
