Dwight Cook
Raised in a devout Mormon family in Idaho, Dwight Cook spent years trying to reconcile his sexuality with the expectations of his faith, including undergoing conversion therapy, serving an LDS mission, and entering a heterosexual marriage. After 12 years of marriage and two daughters, he began questioning the life he had been taught to pursue and eventually chose to live openly. A defining tragedy involving the murder of a close gay Mormon friend strengthened Dwight’s determination never to hide who he was again. His journey later led to *Our House*, a PBS documentary featuring his family, and to Neil, his partner of more than two decades, with whom he ultimately found lasting love and marriage.
