Jerry Brown
A lifelong effort to reconcile Christian faith and sexuality has shaped much of Jerry Brown’s journey. After serving in the military, marrying, and becoming a father, Jerry founded The Brotherhood, an early network connecting gay Christians across the country. Through the organization, he met Ron, beginning a remarkable partnership that would last nearly 50 years. Jerry’s life took an unconventional path, sharing a home with both his ex wife, Dorthula, and Ron, and later becoming a devoted caregiver to each of them in their final years. Now in his 80s, Jerry reflects on faith, family, love, loss, and the ways religious institutions have shaped and often burdened LGBTQ lives, themes he explores further in his book Key to Biblical Doctrine.
